Climate Pal Setup

Introduction #

Climate Pal is your reliable partner for environmental monitoring. Designed to keep you informed, it sends real-time notifications based on temperature thresholds (configurable in Celsius or Fahrenheit), humidity levels, and battery status. With customizable settings, you can ensure your environment stays within your preferred parameters, giving you peace of mind wherever you are.

Getting Started #

To begin setting up your Water Pal device:

1. Simply turn on the Climate Pal device.
2. Look for its SSID (broadcasted Wi-Fi network name) in your device’s Wi-Fi settings.

3. Connect to it and it should automatically launch the setup page.
Note: If it doesn’t, stay connected to WaterPal-SSID and open a browser (Chrome, Safari, etc) and type in 192.168.4.1 to manually launch the setup page.

4. Start with the setup and Choose the Wifi SSID network name you want WaterPal to connect to and type in the password

5. Choose your desired Notification Mode (Email, SMS or BOTH)

6. Climate Pal allows you to configure two types of detection: Temperature & Humidity and Battery%. Each type provides tailored notifications based on the thresholds and conditions you set:

Temperature Thresholds:

Set a specific temperature value (in Celsius or Fahrenheit). Choose whether to trigger a notification when the temperature is:

  • Above the set threshold.
  • Below the set threshold.

Personalize the message sent upon detection.

Humidity Levels:

Set a specific humidity percentage. Choose whether to trigger a notification when the humidity is:

  • Above the set threshold.
  • Below the set threshold.

Personalize the message sent upon detection.

Battery% – Monitor the device’s power level with customizable thresholds:

  • Specify whether the notification should trigger when the battery is:
    • Greater than the chosen percentage.
    • Less than the chosen percentage.
  • Set a notification message to alert you when the threshold is reached.

These settings empower you to receive precise and actionable alerts about your environment, ensuring you stay informed and in control.

7. Miscellaneous Settings

These additional settings allow you to customize Water Pal’s connectivity and functionality to better suit your network and environment:

  • Enable Static IP :
Assign a fixed IP address to Water Pal in your network. This ensures consistency of your devices in the network. Take note you’ll still need to assign a static IP to this device from your router configuration

  • Select 802.11 Wireless Mode: Choose the Wi-Fi protocol mode Water Pal should use:

    • 802.11 b/g/n (Default): Supports the widest compatibility with modern networks.
    • 802.11 b/g: May improve stability in environments with older devices.
    • 802.11 b: A legacy mode for compatibility in specific network setups.
  • Reduce Wireless Transmit Power :
Lowers the range of Water Pal’s Wi-Fi transmission. Useful for preventing interference in networks with closely situated devices but requires the device to be near the router.

  • Enable Guest Network Mode:
Allows Water Pal to connect and operate on guest networks. This mode avoids certain operations, like pinging the gateway IP, which some guest networks may restrict.

  • Rename Water Pal SSID:
Enables you to personalize the broadcasted SSID name of the device for easier identification in your network.
