It works even when the power outage also takes down your Wi-Fi. PowerPal sends a regular heartbeat to Keep Connect servers. When the heartbeat stops, the servers send your alert. When the heartbeat returns, you get a restoration message.

There is no subscription, no per-message fee and no app required. Plug it in, connect it to Wi-Fi from your browser, and add your phone number or email.

What PowerPal Does

How this power outage monitor turns a silent outage into an instant alert

PowerPal watches for power at the outlet where it is plugged in. It does not need to send a message during the outage itself:

While power is on, PowerPal sends a heartbeat signal to Keep Connect servers.
When power is lost, the heartbeat stops.
The servers notice the silence and send your SMS or email alert.
When power returns, the heartbeat resumes and you get a restoration message.

You choose the heartbeat interval and how long to wait before sending an offline alert. You can also write your own alert message.

What PowerPal does not do: it monitors whether power is present. It does not measure energy use or tell you which appliance used what. It cannot restore power.

Join your Wi-Fi. Choose your home network and enter the password.
Add alert contacts. Enter your phone number, email address or both.
Set timing (optional). Adjust the heartbeat interval and offline alert delay.
