KeepLink Feature Update Steps

KeepLink is a feature that enhances the already known Master and Follower feature. In which Keep Connect allows peer-to-peer communication between Keep Connect Devices.

In the classic Master and Follower Feature, Master Keep Connect communicates to the Follower Keep Connect through your healthy WI-FI network. Thus communication between the two were dependent to your WI-FI network availability (with or without internet).

Built-in with Keep Connect devices are its WI-FI capability which makes it capable of Broadcasting it’s own WI-FI network (by how users are able to do the initial setup by connecting to KeepConnect-SSID) AND connecting to an existing WI-FI network (after setup completed).

The new feature KeepLink now efficiently uses this same Wi-Fi feature to communicate directly to other/Follower Keep Connects within its WI-FI range and simultaneously also communicates through the Wi-Fi LAN network they are both connected to. In the event that your local network has failed, your router and modem will still reboot simultaneously because KeepLink has enabled your Keep Connects to send signals directly to each other.

Things you need to know before updating your firmware:

Firmware Version – KeepLink feature is currently available to Keep Connects with older chipsets. Specifically towards “KeepConnect_pcbV2_4M_V2_*” Versions. To know what version your unit/s are, go to our status page and enter your keep Connect ID. Although it is not until recently that we released a newer chipset so unless you purchase your unit fairly recent, you should be good to go with this update.

IF your device happen to be “KeepConnect_pcbV2_4M_V1_*” or a legacy software, you need to make the next updates first at our firmware updates page before doing this.

You Keep Connect’s local IP/s (optional only, if update is done on PC)– unless you took note of the Keep Connect local ip after the initial install or set it as static ip within the advance settings, you will have to reach out to our support team so we can pull it up in our database. You can also check this in the list of devices under your router settings.

Your Admin credentials on your Keep Connect units (optional only, if update is done on PC) – Upon initial install, the user is asked to create Admin credentials for access to the Keep Connect Configuration portal. Most commonly, users are probably gonna forget the credentials inputted as it can only be used if the user will access the configuration portal via the Keep Connect local ip assigned to it by the home network router. And most users re-access the configuration portal via pressing and holding for approx 5 seconds the Keep Connect button which will not ask for authentication after reconnecting to the configuration portal

If you forgot your admin credentials, proceed to Steps to apply the firmware update PC section on how to reset it.
